Regular visits with your pediatrician are important not only in maintaining your child’s health but also ensuring that that they are meeting of all of their developmental milestones in an appropriate time-frame. Milestones are a key factor when in identifying early signs of ASD. During your pediatric visits, be sure to ask your doctor how your child is doing with regard to typical developmental trajectories related to not only motor milestones but also those related to language and social development. Voice your concerns to pediatrician, no matter how big or small; they are there help you and can explain why your child may not be meeting these milestones. Ask questions and demand answers, believe in yourself, and advocate for your child.

• Your child is not making eye contact with you
• Your child does not respond to their name
• Your child does is not babbling or communicating with words
• Your child has an unusual attachment or interest in a toy(s) or object(s)
• Your child likes to view things with the side of their eye or at eye level
• Your child is lining up their toys instead of playing appropriately
• Your child in interested in parts of toys and not the toy as a whole
